AudioLINK receives one of many awards for 2015

Award-winning AudioLINK data extraction for alarms

  • 23 Nov 2015

Aico’s AudioLINK data extraction technology has won a host of prestigious industry awards in its first year since launch.

In 2015, AudioLINK has won: Electrical App of the Year at the Electrical Industry Awards; Best New Product at the SELECT Awards; Innovative Product of the Year at the Northern Ireland Electrical Awards; and Gas Industry Innovation at AGSM Supplier Excellence Awards.

AudioLINK has also been selected by readers of Professional Electrician as one of the top 25 products of the year.

Data Extraction Technology for alarms

AudioLINK is integrated into Aico’s Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms and Ei2110e multi-sensor fire alarm to allow for real time data to be extracted via the alarm’s sounder to a tablet or smartphone.

It is then converted into an Alarm Status Report ready for analysis and is colour coded to identify the urgency of any issue.

The report displays information about the alarm, such as battery life, alarm sensor status, number of times tested and removed; and, in the case of the Carbon Monoxide alarms, CO levels – all in an easy-to-read format.

It can also accommodate additional information such as a site reference number, address or location before being forwarded via email or to be stored in a location for future reference. Data is stored for the life of the alarm – enabling historic information to be retained.

AudioLINK has proven popular with landlords and contractors, as it improves the level of protection to tenants whilst being more time, budget and resource efficient.

The technology can be used as part of the annual property and Gas Safety Checks (CP12) prior to changing over to new tenants. It provides a simple way to test and record the alarm is working prior to tenants moving in.

AudioLINK

AudioLINK is installed as standard into all of Aico’s CO alarms, including its Ei208 Lithium battery powered range and Ei261 & Ei262 mains powered alarms. It is also included in the new Ei2110e multi-sensor fire alarm.

Neal Hooper, Director, Aico states “We are delighted to receive this level of recognition from the industry and our customers. AudioLINK has already proven an invaluable tool to our customers, detecting CO leaks from appliances such as cookers and boilers.

Contractors have used AudioLINK to extract data from Aico CO alarms immediately, using the Alarm Status Report as a visual guide to prove CO is present and take immediate action to avoid harm to the tenant. AudioLINK is now being installed in the new Multi-Sensor, the Ei2110e, so real time data can now be extracted from smoke alarms, a real bonus for our customers.”

Aico CO & fire alarms

Aico’s CO alarms feature a CO sensor, pre-calibrated and tested in CO gas to ensure accuracy. The alarms attain the British Standard for O detection in residential dwellings – BS EN 50291-1:2010 or BS EN 50291-2:2010.

The Ei2110e multi-sensor fire alarm features optical and heat sensors to constantly monitor smoke and heat levels. This information alters the alarm’s sensitivity and trigger points to automatically provide the best response to all fire types and reduce the potential for false alarms.

To clearly identify the new AudioLINK featured alarms, alarm units will carry a readily identifiable AudioLINK symbol.
