Smoke ventilation system from SE Controls

Smoke ventilation technology provides fire protection for car dealership

  • 9 Dec 2015

Smoke ventilation and window automation technology from SE Controls is being used to keep escape routes clear at Audi’s Durban Central dealership in South Africa.

An updated and more effective smoke ventilation solution was required for the dealership in order to ensure a safe environment for its customers and staff.

SE Controls’ smoke ventilation solution

Working closely with Curvent International, SE Controls has implemented Dynamic Fire Solutions’ specifications on the project.

The company supplied six 350mm stroke length SECO N 24 25 twin chain actuators, which have been fitted above the dealership’s window reveals. The actuators will allow the building’s windows to open automatically and vent smoke out of the building in the event of a fire.

The actuators are linked to SE Controls’ SHEVTEC controller and six separate smoke detectors, which have been mounted in the ceiling in close proximity to the window actuators; this efficient layout ensures that the system requires no supplementary sensing.

Fireman’s over-ride switches, which allow fire personnel to take control of the system and manage the process, were also provided as part of the solution.
