ASSA ABLOY’s Future Lab is an initiative that examines the trends influencing security in order to predict the future of the industry.
Through collaboration with end-users, distributors and ASSA ABLOY divisions, the Group is utilising the Future Lab in its product development process in order to meet changing market demand.
Having increased its R&D investment by 130%, the company has increased its number of product design engineers to 1,400 since 2005.
This has led to the development of electromechanical products such as ASSA’s CLIQ Remote system. The CLIQ system combines traditional locksmithing with modern information technology to improve business security, without the associated cost or complexity.
Sales of ASSA ABLOY’s electromechanical products have increased from 20 to 49% of total sales since 2000.
ASSA ABLOY UK’s Business Development Director, Richard Bromley, commented: “Innovation is key for any business to ensure it stays ahead of the competition. Now, more than ever, it is critical to offer products designed for the future that excite customers as well as adding value.
Within the security industry, innovation is no longer just about technological invention, but also about harnessing invention to improve business processes and outcomes. That’s why at ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions we have recently invested in our electromechanical team to help our customers make the most of ground-breaking products such as ASSA’s CLIQ Remote system.”
