Sika has supplied 250 square metres of its ComfortFloor Pro liquid applied flooring system to a lecture hall at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Situated near Euston Station in London, The Royal College of Ophthalmologists required a noise absorbent, durable and easy to maintain floor for the refurbishment of one of its lecture rooms.
To meet these requirements, Sika’s ComfortFloor Pro liquid applied, seamless flooring system was installed.
Sika ComfortFloor has recently become the first resin flooring product to achieve a BRE Green Guide Rating – attaining an A+ rating. This will help design teams attain the highest BREEAM score possible on their projects, in turn minimising the environmental impact of any building.
The installation of 250 square metres of Sika Comfortfloor Pro in a dusty grey colour was completed throughout the lecture room and an adjacent corridor in the college.
The team prepared the surface by diamond grinding the uneven sub floor, followed by the application of the quick-setting Sikafloor Level 30 mortar at various depths to provide a flat surface to install the ComfortFloor System.
A layer of Sikafloor 161 primer was then applied onto the surface before the application of the Sikafloor 330 by pin rake.
Surtech then applied a topcoat of Sikafloor 305W by roller to create a joint free and seamless floor and complete the system.
Available in a range of colours to suit a variety of applications, the Sika ComfortFloor Pro system has been developed to offer longevity and minimal maintenance for applications where exceptional hygiene standards are of utmost importance – such as food preparation areas, commercial kitchens, hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
The application of the liquid applied flooring system at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists demonstrates how the it can meet the needs of the client with an efficient installation process suitable for the most challenging of new build residential and refurbishment projects.
