Guide to the Future of Air Conditioning - Hybrid Technologies

New CPD Guide examines hybrid heating and cooling systems

  • 25 Jan 2016

Mitsubishi Electric has published a new CPD-Accredited guide looking at the challenges faced by the built environment due to increasing legislation, the drive for energy efficiency and the need to reduce carbon emissions.

Similar to how the automative industry is adopting hybrid technology to power vehicles in the face of changing legislation and rising fuel costs, the building services sector is beginning to find new ways to heat, cool and ventilate increasingly airtight buildings.

Mitsubishi Electric proposes an approach which combines traditional 4-pipe chiller systems with the efficiencies and flexibility of 2-pipe VRF (variable refrigerant flow) air conditioning.

The free publication weighs the pros and cons of existing options whilst examining alternatives such as ME’s Hybrid VRF system, which has been developed to remove the need for leak detection by using water instead of refrigerant in occupied spaces.
