There is a positive feeling amongst architects within the industry regarding the current business climate, according to a national survey by Reynaers at Home concerning industry trends.
When posed the question, “Do you feel that your business is doing better than this time last year?” 63 percent of architect respondents answered yes, with only eight percent answering no. A further 20 percent were unsure. This compares to 67 percent of respondents who felt positive about the current business climate in the previous survey back in 2013.
Marketing Manager Rebecca Cope commented: “Our experience reflects this trend, with a very positive 50% increase in sales for Reynaers at Home in the past year.
We’ve found that consumers are still prepared to spend money on aluminium doors and windows, but are being more selective. When spending their hard-earned money, they are happy to pay more for a product that is well designed, carefully manufactured and installed by a company that understands the value of customer service.”
Despite a general feeling of optimism, several sources of frustration remain within the industry. Almost a third of survey participants complained about compromising a design for planning, followed by a quarter of architects saying they didn’t have enough time to think. This has risen by 20 percent since 2013.
Having to scale a design concept to budget was a frustration of 20 percent of architects, with one in 10 respondents saying that locating the materials they wanted to use within the budget was particularly irritating and 6 six percent directing the blame towards difficult clients.
Difficult builders and contractors were named by five percent whilst delivering projects within agreed low fees due to the current market was also singled out.
Rebecca Cope said: “The latest survey has highlighted interesting trends in the market. At Reynaers we make sure that we work closely with our partners, so that their needs are met and we’re working towards the same goals.”
