ASSA ABLOY’s CLIQ Remote electromechanical security system has been installed at the Festival Place shopping centre in Basingstoke by High Security Locking.
Festival Place is home to more than 170 shops, restaurants and bars. The 102,000 metre squared centre also incorporates a Vue cinema, Basingstoke Sports Centre and Basingstoke Discovery Centre.
Working closely with the shopping centre’s security managers, High Security Locking specified and installed ASSA’s CLIQ Remote system on all site critical doors at the shopping centre. This provided a simple and intelligent electromechanical locking system to improve security despite the team’s restrictive budgets.
The CLIQ Remote has been designed to allow only those with authorised access to enter private areas such as plant rooms and roofs.
The system is able to create time defined user keys, allowing access for specific periods of time. This is useful for maintenance workers and cleaners who may require access to the shopping centre outside normal opening hours.
Over 100 of the CLIQ cylinders were installed in total at Festival Place to improve key control, enabling the security team to have more control over their keys. The shopping centre has plans to phase out the old mechanical cylinders altogether, replacing them with ASSA ABLOY’s CLIQ system within two years.
Simon Wilson, the national sales manager for the CLIQ Remote at ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions commented: “With retail workers, cleaners and site managers all possessing keys within a shopping centre there is always a risk of unauthorised copies of keys and an unknown number of keys being distributed.
A copied or lost key is an immediate security threat, and replacing lock cylinders and keys combined with administrative work is highly resource-intensive. ASSA’s CLIQ Remote system helps to minimise administrative work, allowing the administrator to grant access or to block lost or stolen keys remotely and conveniently.”
ASSA ABLOY’s mechanical cylinders were also included in the same master key system on the internal doors at the shopping centre, which feature case-hardened drill resistant inserts, false gate positions for increased anti-picking protection and a patented sidebar mechanism with force-controlled side code function.
