More and more construction industry professionals looking to start up their own business are turning to the franchise model, new figures from Daltonsbusiness reveal.
Across the UK, construction industry professionals are looking at new ways to start their own businesses, and it appears becoming a handyman franchisee is high on the list.
Tony Arnold, MD of Daltonsbusiness: “We’ve got more people than ever enquiring about handyman franchises and we expect this healthy trend to continue. People are investing more time into researching property maintenance opportunities, and demand for handyman franchises is up 65% in January 2016 alone.”
It’s easy to see why handyman franchise is such a popular choice. Setting up as a branded handyman franchisee typically costs £17,725, and many franchises can help arrange finance for the right candidates. Franchising is also a highly successful way to start a business; research from NatWest & the BFA (British Franchise Association) reveals that 97% of franchised businesses in the UK generate a profit.
Along with low entry costs and high success rates, consumer trust appears to be another crucial factor for high investment rates within the handy man franchise sector.
Gerry Fundell, UK head of the Hire a Hubby franchise: “There is a lot of competition from general handymen, but the advantage of our franchise brand is that you know you’re working with members of Trustmark (the government backed initiative to help consumers find reliable and trustworthy tradespeople), and all our franchisees have £5 million public liability insurance, carry a security checked photo-ID, also that our guys work is guaranteed by us.”
Daltonsbusiness is the UK’s leading website for connecting buyers and sellers of businesses and franchises.
Franchising is a method that allows you to buy into an established business operating system, brand name and advice network. If you buy a franchise, you become the self-employed owner of your own business, but you also benefit from the support network, branding and advertising spend of a national enterprise.
Recent research shows that franchising often delivers a much better chance of profitability than working as a sole trader.
