The amount of energy wasted and the ability to retain a buildings heat effectively have both become key topics within the industry. Buildings now account for more than 40% of all carbon emissions.
Selectaglaze secondary glazing systems use low emissivity glass to reduce heat loss by more than half and achieve a U-value of approximately 1.9.
When a sealed glazed unit is used, this is further reduced to a figure as low as 1.3.
When there is a requirement to achieve airtightness, secondary glazing can provide significant improvements when changing the original windows is not possible, such as when a building is listed or sits within a conservation area.
Selectaglaze sliding systems achieve air permeability performance below 5m3/h.m3 and performance below 1m3/h.m3 with Selectaglaze hinged systems.
Secondary glazing is a fully reversible adaptation, comprising of an independent window fitted to the room side of the building, making it widely accepted by Heritage bodies.
All of Selectaglaze’s unit are tailored to the individual window and use high performance seals to ensure a tight fit and reduce air infiltration.
Applications range from listed offices to new build hotels, helping projects achieve high BREEAM ratings.
