10 reasons to explore offsite housing solutions

  • 1 Mar 2016

howardchapmanHoward Chapman, Buildingtalk Editor, reviews Explore Offsite in the Housing Sector at the NEC, 23-24 March and highlights why it offers significant insights into solutions to the UK housing crisis.

Despite recent headlines about the rise in number of new homes built (up 23% in the last quarter of 2015) the housing charity Shelter said the increase was “not good enough”, with only half the number of homes needed were being built.

Brandon Lewis MP – Minister of State for Housing and Planning

In the whole of last year, 143,560 new homes were started, which was up by 6% on 2014. But this was still 22% below 2007’s peak. With a growing population it is woefully short of what the country needs.

Housing Minister Brandon Lewis agrees and has detailed the “most ambitious housing vision for more than a generation, doubling the housing budget so we can meet our ambition of delivering a million new homes.”
