As providers of residential and commercial wet leisure products, Edge Leisure was recently contracted to assist with the redevelopment of Sopwell House Hotel Spa.
Two years after completing a successful project at the spa, the company was approached by Sopwell to provide five wooden hot tubs and a large communal Hydropool for its new development.
The ‘Mews’ are a series of two and four bedroom suites at the spa, which share a communal garden space. Some benefit from a private garden and deck area, which required hot tubs to fulfil the spa’s original design.
Edge Leisure built the necessary equipment and installed it inside a shipping container, which was concealed by a car park, a row of trees and a fence. A hole was cut out of the container’s floor, and the pipes and controls were fed through it.
As the pipes had to extend 50 metres to reach the hot tubs from the plantroom, Edge Leisure was challenged with ensuring that its network was flawless in both design and application.
The company ensured that everything could be controlled from the container. A secondary water supply has been utilised for backwashing and cleaning the system, ensuring that the hot tubs can be used all day without interference.
Edge Leisure constructed the wooden hot tub structures with Siberian Larch timber, which boasts low moisture content and a rot-resistant make up.
Manufactured in Europe, the tubs were shipped to the company’s offices, where there were plumbed and pre-built. The tubs have been fitted with a hydro-jet system; an underwater light has also been included in each one.
