Wienerberger’s Porotherm clay block walling system has been used for a residential development in Norwich, which will see 14 properties built to Passivhaus standard.
The project has been commissioned by Norwich City Council to promote Passivhaus, the fastest growing energy performance standard in the UK. It’s aim is to build houses that have excellent thermal performance and exceptional airtightness with mechanical ventilation.
The Porotherm clay block walling system has been specified as an efficient alternative to timber, concrete or light steel frames.
Porotherm blocks comply with the Passivhaus standards by offering a high thermal performance and strength, as well as fast and virtually dry construction.
Richard Brown, Category Marketing Manager for Wall at Wienerberger, commented: “To supply products and support the development of Passivhaus standard properties is a great testament to the Porotherm product.
It adheres to the necessary standard to help provide an innovative low energy building and we are proud to be part of this new development in Norwich.”
