Gilbert’s Mistrale MFS Fusion natural ventilation unit can now be optioned with an integrated LPHW coil to provide both heat reclamation and space heating.
The MFS Fusion Unit provides natural ventilation by combining incoming fresh air with the warmth from exhaust air without the need for a heat exchanger.
With the addition of an LPHW coil for morning warm-up, the unit can provide an even heat distribution across an entire room before occupancy. The fan runs on full speed for approximately 20 minutes – depending on night set-back temperatures and flow temperatures – to ensure maximum air blending whilst avoiding any stratification.
The product has been fully tested by Gilberts to ensure full, even mixing within the room. By utilising the LPHW coil, the units achieved correct mixing and temperature when an air change rate of 13 air changes per hour (55l/s standard 32 person classroom) was required.
The energy cost of running the fan for morning warm-up has been estimated at £2.10
Utilising the MFS with an integral heating solution can offer significant cost savings, removing the need for radiators in a classroom. In addition, as the heat is supplied at a high levl, the risk of possible low surface temperature (LST) issues are also eliminated for primary and SEN school projects.
Gilberts Technical Director Roy Jones commented: “It’s a whole new take on hybrid ventilation, and an exciting new product to bring to market. The Environmental Funding Agency has already seen the test results, and we have consultants who are now specifying the product.”
