DuPont Tyvek FireCurb Housewrap offers fire protection

  • 23 Mar 2016

DuPont Tyvek FireCurb Housewrap has been specified to protect Afyonkarahisar’s new Park Afyon AVM building from the effects of wind and water.

Developed to offer a combination of shopping, social housing and community facilities, the new building has been erected in the centre of Afyonkarahisar, the capital of western Turkey’s Afyon Province.

In order to protect the new complex from the effects of adverse weather conditions, the CE Marked DuPont Tyvek FireCurb Housewrap has been applied to a total of 7,000 square metres throughout the building.

Based on DuPont’s unique patented technology, the breather membrane can decelerate or prevent the spread of flames in a multitude of building types. It has been developed to improve evacuation time for occupants, whilst increasing a building’s overall fire rating.

The product has obtained its own fire rating of class B-s1d0 according to EN13501-1; it has also been awarded a BBA Agrément Certificate, endorsing it as a polyethylene breather membrane, suitable for use in timber-frame wall construction.

Whilst resisting toxic flame retardant and preventing the spread of fire, DuPont Tyvek FireCurb Housewrap has the ability to reinforce the weather protection, thermal performance and airtightness of buildings such as Park Afyon AVM.

The membrane is applied to the external side of insulation materials within a building’s envelope; it can be used within ventilated facades, timber structures, and roofs with primary watershedding rainscreens.
