Roofing contractor WF Price (Roofing) Ltd has installed 1,400m2 of the Protan SE roofing membrane across the University Hospitals Ayr and Crosshouse as part of the ‘Building for Better Care (BfBC)’ programme.
WF Price (Roofing) specified Protan SE on behalf of the programme’s principal supply chain partner, BAM Construction, for the mechanically-fixed single ply flat roofing elements on the two hospitals.
The contractor installed around 600m2 of the SE 1.2mm substrate at the University Hospital Crosshouse on the new Combined Assessment Unit, which opened in February. An additional 850m2 was fitted at University Hospital Ayr as part of an extension to its existing A&E and Combined Assessment facilities that are scheduled to open in March 2017.
Protan SE was specified as part of the BfBC programme, which is about “delivering modern, fit-for-purpose facilities for ‘front door’ services and making better use of resources,” according to Andy Brown, the senior project manager for NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
