New GGF consumer guide on the dangers of asbestos

  • 20 Apr 2016

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) has published a new consumers guide about the dangers of asbestos and the correct procedures for having it removed.

The new brochure, titled “Don’t play Russian roulette with asbestos” aims to inform homeowners on the facts and risks of asbestos and how to have it removed safely.

GGF Asbestos Leaflet Cover ImagePhil Pinnington of GGF Health commented that he hopes the guide will raise awareness of the fact that asbestos is often present in domestic settings. He said:

“By improving awareness, we hope homeowners will be better informed as to why professional companies such as those in GGF Membership are well placed to help manage its control and disposal if necessary.”

If asbestos is suspected and is at risk of being disturbed, it is advised that homeowners seek advice from a competent assessor.

Whilst the GGF cannot be directly responsible for promoting or authorising the work of individual assessors, it recommends that property owners discuss the matter with their window, door or conservatory installation company.

“Don’t play Russian roulette with asbestos” is available to download from the GGF’s consumer website.

  • Asbestos is a hazardous material found on earth. It’s better to remove asbestos with proper training from house and properties. It will help one to get rid of many life-threatening diseases.
