CUPA PIZARRAS’ CUPA 12 is a dark grey slate with thin laminations and a smooth matt surface.
Available in six sizes, the CUPA 12 natural slate is the company’s most popular product in England and Wales.
The slates are split to an average thickness of 5mm and 6mm and meet the requirements of BS EN 12326-1 and are certified for resistance to freeze/thaw.
The versatile slate can be adapted to any type of project – from contemporary new-builds to period architecture.
CUPA 12 natural slate
CUPA PIZARRAS’ slate is sourced from a number of quarries throughout Northwest Spain. The product does not include any artificial additives or chemicals, making it a sustainable alternative for architectural projects.
Independent studies, such as one carried out by the Inventory of Carbon and Energy (ICE, University of Bath), have shown that natural slate has the least amount of negative effects on the environment out of any building material.
Natural slate is both fire resistant and, due to its low water absorption rate, is naturally waterproof. Unlike prefabricated materials, the weather will have no effect on its appearance or performance.
CUPA 12 has a lifespan of up to 150 years, making it the ideal choice for any new-build or heritage projects.
