Howard Chapman, Buildingtalk Editor. How a new generation of architects are involving people in designing the Smart Buildings of the future.
In case you have been so distracted by the blanket BBC coverage of the EU Referendum, you may have missed their online series on ‘Tomorrow’s Buildings’.
This interesting series has covered a number of aspects of the latest in Smart Buildings including the world’s greenest office, radical solutions to the housing crisis, will tomorrows office be friend or foe, how smart buildings are being hacked, … and much more.
The latest offering is an article out this morning by Jane Wakefield, the BBC Technology reporter. It’s a great overview of a new generation of architects who are putting people at the centre of the design process including adding feedback points so we can tell a building how you feel about it and giving workers a virtual view of their new office.
It also looks at examples of healthy hospitals and smart schools – here is a link for more details.
Smart Buildings is set to make a return to UK Construction Week this year: the 2016 show will take place from 18th to 20th October.
