Sky Dubai has used Spacetherm insulation to prevent thermal bridging in its 22,500m2 indoor ski area.
Located in the Mall of the Emirates, Sky Dubai is the first indoor ski resort in the United Arab Emirates.
The structure provides a 22,500m2 indoor ski area that is required to maintain a cool temperature in between -1 and 20°C.
Arup consultants approved the use of Spacetherm, which is designed to prevent thermal bridging through a component or element of a structure.
The superior thermal performance of Spacetherm allowed Herald Contracting to insulate the structure’s viewing dingo reveals at the adjoining Kempinski Hotel with just 10mm thickness, whilst providing a thermal conductivity of 0.015 W/mK.
Spacetherm offers high thermal resistance and vapour permeability whilst being highly hydrophobic. It is an ideal choice for timber or steel frame structures and can be cut to a variety of widths and sizes to suit varying applications. It can also be bonded to a wide range of boards and substrates.
Spacetherm’s thermal performance qualities can be retained for up to 50 years.
