The Carbon Trust has verified ASSA ABLOY UK’s primary manufacturing site as a zero-waste-to-landfill operation.
ASSA ABLOY Group endeavours to ensure its manufacturing, product development and logistics processes are as sustainable as possible. In 2015, it completed its five-year sustainability programme, which included targets to reduce energy consumption intensity and carbon emissions by 15% and 10% respectively.
The Carbon Trust has verified its Portobello site, which is based in Willenhall, as a zero-waste-to-landfill operation: it is one of the company’s fourteen manufacturing units that achieved zero-waste-to-landfill status by the end of last year.
This independent verification demonstrates ASSA ABLOY’s commitment to improving waste management and its sustainability credentials. It offers confirmation that all waste types from the company are subject to legislative control, in either their handling or disposal.
Following this success, ASSA ABLOY Group is launching a new sustainability program, extending to 2020, with increased ambitions.
