Gatic Civil Drainage’s CastSlot system has been specified for installation in the car park of a new Waitrose store, based in Oxford.
McCurdy Russell Architects specified CastSlot as part of a multi-million pound project to build the new Waitrose store. It required a robust, yet understated, solution to effectively manage surface water in the new car park and service yard.

Finished in cast iron, the system benefits from a high flow inlet and channel capacity. It sports the same hexagonal profile as the rest of Gatic’s Slotdrain range; a V-shaped channel base ensures a self-cleansing flow, whilst a tapered throat works to prevent blockages.
Designed to create a continuous interception of surface water, CastSlot is manufactured in three metre lengths of galvanised steel, making it more elongated than its counterparts.
Its longer lengths allowed for a streamlined installation in the new Waitrose carpark, which was carried out by Sheehan Contractors. The project received technical support from Gatic Civil Drainage throughout.
