Civils Expo set to return to UK Construction Week 2016

  • 13 May 2016

Civils Expo – the UK’s only dedicated event for civil engineering and construction – will once again take place as part of UK Construction Week at the Birmingham NEC between the 18th and 20th October.

UK construction week 2015Having formed part of the Build Show at last year’s event, the Civils Expo is now its own dedicated show, backed by industry leaders including the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE).

Last year’s event is thought to have attracted 76% of the UK’s local authorities, 70% of the UK’s top house building firms and all 20 of the UK’s top construction companies.

The 2016 Civils Expo will showcase the latest technologies, systems and products in the civil sector. The event will cater specifically to civil engineers, contractors, local authority developers, landscape architects, commercial home builders, site managers and central government.

Companies signed up to exhibit include CEMEX, Pop Up Power Supplies, Clark Drain Ltd, Instant Upright and a pioneering London project team from Tideway.

The Infrastructure Hub

Featuring a full programme of content that will cover the biggest issues in the sector, the Infrastructure Hub will be central to the exhibition space.

Supported by ICE, Transport for London, Highways England and HS2, the Infrastructure Hub will invite experts to discuss the expansion of England’s motorways and main roads, high speed railway and airport projects and the construction of nuclear power stations.

Visitors will also be invited to take part in debates, workshops and networking events.

The event will also host a series of seminars and two awards ceremonies in partnership with World Architecture News; the Concrete Awards and the Infrastructure Awards.

Nathan Garnett, show director at Media 10 – the organisers of Civils Expo and UK Construction Week, commented: “Civil engineering and infrastructure is a hot topic in the public eye at the moment with many large projects making progress as Britain gets building again.

Civls Expo offers this sector a unique opportunity to come together, learn from one another and do business. The seminar schedule will be particularly engaging as experts from leading companies discuss high profile projects and the challenges faced by the industry in the coming years.”

Dr David Hancock, Head of Construction at the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, added: “Having participated in the first UK Construction Week, it was very apparent to me that this event has the potential to change the image of construction.

It can act as a catalyst for all of the construction supply chain, from products and manufacturers to end users, to meet and do business and be a place for us all to tackle the challenges we face head on.”
