NEA Smart system for Garden Cottage

Rural cottage benefits from NEA Smart underfloor heating controls

  • 26 May 2016

A refurbished Herefordshire cottage has benefited from the installation of REHAU’s underfloor heating. The system is complemented by the company’s new NEA Smart underfloor heating controls.

The owners of Garden Cottage sought a practical control system, which would help to maximise the efficiency of their new heating system. Building contractor, Paul Mason, specified REHAU’s NEA Smart system as a solution.

Featuring simple room controls, the system offers the option of remote operation, via a smart phone or tablet, which can be set up online.

The NEA Smart base station controls seven zones, with a room controller in each: this allows the homeowners to exercise precise control over the temperature in each area.

The system has been calibrated to learn the programming behaviour of the end user; it is able to anticipate the heat demand in advance, ensuring that it is responsive whilst keeping boiler cycling to a minimum.

As the system utilises low voltage rather than mains wiring, Paul Mason and his team were able to fit it without the assistance of a qualified electrician. Whilst the room controllers at Garden Cottage are hard wired, a wireless option is available, should the system need to be extended in the future.

The NEA Smart base station has been modified to accept the characteristics of the cottage’s boiler and improve the efficiency of the underfloor heating system.
