Contour Casings has developed new anti-ligature radiator guards to provide safe heating for individuals in secure facilities, such mental health hospitals.
Equipped with shrouded TRVs and security grilles, Contour’s anti-ligature radiator guards have been developed to meet the safety requirements of secure establishments, such as British prisons and custodial facilities.
Tamper-proof fixings work to prevent unauthorised access, whilst the grille design incorporates 2mm holes and 4mm centres to reduce the risk of self-harm.
The design has been testing in a UKAS-accredited laboratory: it surpasses IP3x standards, boasting the ability to protect against the ingress of objects greater than 2.5mm in diameter.
The anti-ligature radiator guards also meet the requirements of the Home Office Police Buildings Design – Custody, July 2009, section PD3.02.14, which states that grilles should be perforated with 2mm diameter holes at 4mm centres, unless specified otherwise.
