Crossbasket Castle benefits from Stannah Midilift SL installation

Stannah Midilift specified for Grade 1 Listed castle restoration

Scotland’s Crossbasket Castle has been transformed into a luxury hotel, restaurant and events venue: a Stannah Midilift SL platform lift ensures that it is accessible to everyone.

Prior to the restoration, the Grade I Listed tower house was in a critical condition: dilapidated and on the Buildings at Risk Register, it was in desperate need of attention.

After taking over the property, new owners Steve and Alison Reid-Timoney embarked on four years of sympathetic restoration. The refurbished castle is now being used as a luxury hotel, offering eight bedrooms and a 4-floor honeymoon suite.

The establishment, which is set in 14 acres of landscaped gardens, also accommodates the Albert and Michel Roux Jr Restaurant, and the Roosevelt Grand Hall, a medieval-style banqueting and ballroom facility.

The wheelchair lift boasts a glass door and upper-level, half-height gate blend security. It offers a solution to the restricted head height, caused by the building’s sloping ceiling, whilst complementing the Hall’s glazed roof.

Meanwhile, a RAL 8016 mahogany brown finish was chosen to supplement the surrounding woodwork.

Since the installation of the hydraulically-driven lift, Crossbasket Castle has achieved compliance with section 4.2 of the Technical Handbook (Scotland) and the 2010 Equality Act, allowing access for all.
