Troldtekt acoustic panels ensure quiet broadcasting at BBC Worldwide

  • 22 Jun 2016

High performance Troldtekt acoustic panels have been used in the refurbishment of the BBC TV Centre at Wood Lane London.

Completed in February last year, HOK architects redesigned much of the interior, with refurbishment and construction carried out by specialist dry-lining contractors BDL Group.

To ensure that noise was kept to a minimum and reverberation time was reduced, Troldtekt acoustic panels were specified in a light grey finish to line all the ceilings and the soffit around the circular atrium. The panels were installed on wood battens, which were fixed to the concrete ceiling as ceiling panels.

BDL managing surveyor Elliot Bryant found the panels ‘very easy to handle and install’, commenting that the company was impressed with their acoustic performance and attractive unifying appearance.

About Troldtekt acoustic panels

Manufactured using 100 percent natural wood fibres, Troldtekt acoustic panels can be delivered as either FSC or PEFC certified panels.

The product offers high sound absorption, high durability, natural breathability, low cost life cycle performance and fire safety.

The panels are available in various sizes and in three grades, from ultrafine to course and can be left unpainted or finished in almost any RAL colour.

In addition to being recognised by Allergy UK with an ‘Allergy Friendly Product Certificate’, the panels have received Silver level certification within the Cradle to Cradle concept and earns gold on 4 out of 5 criteria in the Cradle to Cradle certification version 3.1 – meaning that the panels do not contain hazardous substances and can be returned to nature as compost.
