The Kingspan TEK Building System and Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel have been installed as part of the new Seaton Jurassic visitor centre in Devonshire.
The rock formations of the Dorset and East Devon coasts boast over 185 million years of history. In 2001, the site was received official recognition as England’s first natural UNESCO World Heritage Site.
To celebrate the heritage of the site, the Seaton Jurassic centre was built. Operated by the Devon Wildlife Trust, the centre aims to take visitors on a journey through time, with a number of interactive exhibits spread across three pods.
The walls of the centre were formed with the Kingspan TEK Building System. Assembled by Glosford SIPs, the system was combined with the Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel, which was fitted on to a steel frame for the centre roof.
The system was delivered in a single operation, enabling faster construction. Pre-cut to the centre’s requirements, the panels were installed without the need for on-site alterations.
Designed to provide exceptional thermal and airtightness performance, the Kingspan TEK products were able to help the project achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating. The insulated cores of the 142mm Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel and the Kingspan TEK Building System allow each product to achieve U-values of 0.20 W/m2.K and below.
The panels are now available in a 172mm thickness, delivering a minimum U-value of 0.16 W/m2.K without the need for additional insulation.
