Step-by-step guide to installing Alumasc Swisslab External Wall Insulation System

Our Video of the Week covers the application of all key components in the Swisslab External Wall Insulation System including; surface preparation, insulation, reinforcement, base coats and the final ST Silkolitt Silicone Render finish, which is available in a range of colours.

Swisslab is a BBA-approved EWI system with an effective life in excess of 30 years. The system is fully warranted when applied in accordance with the Alumasc project specification and installed by an Alumasc registered contractor.

The EWI system increases thermal efficiency by allowing the fabric of the building to act as a heat store and is fully weather resistant whilst remaining vapour permeable. 

Swisslab eliminates cold bridging, condensation and mould growth and is highly resistant to impact damage. It is rated Class 0 for surface spread of flame and contributes to sound reduction within the external wall construction.

Swisslab applications

Ideally suited for building refurbishment, particularly social housing, Swisslab can be installed over solid masonry, concrete panels (NLB), no-fines concrete and masonry with cavity.

The insulation is also suitable for treating non-traditional house types such as BISF, Orlit, Wates, Cruden, Airey and Athol and is unrestricted for use on buildings up to 6 storeys and high rise applications that comply with Alumasc’s High Rise Policy.
