ASSA ABLOY recently participated in the pilot programme for BRE Academy’s new BREEAM Associate qualification and training course.

With green building certification growing throughout the construction industry, BRE designed its BREEAM Associate training scheme and qualification course to ensure the market exercises an accurate understanding of sustainability and green building practices.

Developed to improve the way construction sector professionals and supply chains deliver BREEAM on their projects, the course aims to create a cohort of BREEAM advocates who can advise and inform on the development of sustainable buildings.

The scheme will provide participants with a recognised credential, demonstrating commitment to professional development for excellence in the build environment.

Becoming a BREEAM Associate

ASSA ABLOY was among the 10 companies invited to participate in the pilot programme for the course. It currently has 19 certified associates and a further 12 studying through a series of online learning modules and exams.

The company, which focuses on providing sector specific whole life costings to add value to the field of sustainability, hopes that the scheme will enable to it to support and collaborate on BREEAM projects at an industry-recognised level.

The course offers an introduction to BREEAM, covering its aims, principles and operational processes. By providing this information, BRE hopes to create associates that can work effectively within the BREEAM framework.
