New document offers best practice guidance on installed tolerances

  • 19 Jul 2016

A new guidance document – entitled GD27 Installed tolerances: best practice design guide – has been developed and published by the Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA).

The new document has been designed for the benefit of cladding sub-contractors. It aims to raise awareness on the relevant tolerances that are allowed in the fabrication and erection of a primary steel frame.

Installed tolerances guidance

Deviation from the current tolerances can affect the performance of the cladding system and its fixings, as well as associated components, such as gutters and flashing. It can also cause contractual issues.

By outlining current construction guidelines, the document aims to illustrate this. Through the publication, MCRMA hopes to promote better and more consistent metal roofing and cladding construction throughout the industry.
