Curaflex pipe sleeves installed at R7 development

Curaflex pipe sleeves specified to prevent water ingress at R7 development

  • 29 Jul 2016

A new office development has been waterproofed with Curaflex pipe sleeves from Interflow’s DOYMA range of pipe and duct sealing systems.

Forming part of the King’s Cross regeneration project, the R7 office development is a multipurpose building, which has been designed to accommodate small and growing companies; additional space can be provided for larger businesses, requiring a floor or more.

The building, which was designed by Duggan Morris Architects, spans over ten storeys, integrating shared spaces to create a sense of community. Whilst each floor will have at least one balcony space, all occupants will be encouraged to use a 6,000 square foot terrace, located on the ninth floor.

A ‘cycle spa’ will be built in the basement, offering changing rooms, showers and over 250 bike spaces.

Ensuring watertightness

A range of Interflow’s DOYMA pipe and duct sealing systems have been specified for the R7 scheme. The products offer preventative sealing for walls, floors and ceilings where service ducts are installed.

They have been engineered to prevent structural damage – which can be caused by invasive liquids and humidity – by sealing penetration points to prevent the infiltration of water and gases into the building.

Lack of attention to points of entry can result in damp cellars, equipment and content damage. The DOYMA systems are recommended for installation with pipes and cables to prevent this.

Curaflex pipe sleeves

The R7 scheme’s contractor, Mitchellson Formwork, specified the DOYMA Curaflex pipe sleeve system in 3000, 3000/T, 3001 and 5000 for installation.

Curaflex pipe sleeves installed at R7 developmentInterflow’s 3000, 3001 and 3000/T solutions are manufactured from fibrous cement; Curaflex 3000/T is ideal for retrofitting around pre-installed services, which can later be sealed with a split gasket.

The sleeves offer homogeneous connection to concrete; the inside faces work to provide a contact surface for the elastomer of the Curaflex gasket insert. The systems form a watertight bond with the concrete to prevent the ingress of unwanted substances.

Alternatively, the DOYMA Curaflex 5000 pipe sleeve is manufactured from steel. It has been designed for high-static loads with integrated fixed and loose membrane clamping flanges.

All Curaflex products are fire-resistant and watertight up to 3 bars pressure.
