A primary school in Beddau, Wales has specified Polyflor’s commercial vinyl flooring for installation in its new junior block.
CS Flooring Solutions was contracted to fit approximately 600 square metres of Polyflor’s vinyl flooring throughout Llwyncrwn Primary’s new school building.
The installation was issued as part of a £4 million refurbishment project, stipulated by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and led by contractor Morgan Sindall. The infant school has benefited from a new, sustainable extension, which accommodates seven new classrooms.
Wood effect vinyl flooring from Polyflor’s Forest fx PUR range was specified for installation in the meeting rooms and school hall; Polysafe Verona PUR safety flooring was used for the toilets, cloakroom, kitchen and classrooms.
With a crosslinked, UV cured polyurethane reinforcement – known as PUR – the sheet vinyl flooring in Polyflor’s Forest fx collection is particularly suitable for installation in demanding education environments.
It is available in 14 wood effect designs: Classic Oak was selected for the Llwyncrwn Primary School development.
Meanwhile, the Polysafe Verona PUR flooring was specified in a light blue shade called Skyline. Incorporating slip resistant particles, the safety flooring is able to offer sustainable slip resistance: it adheres to EN 13845, the official European Standard for safety flooring, and meets all HSE and UK Slip Group Guidelines.
The vinyl flooring product in each range contains recycled material, ensuring complete recyclability via the Recofloor take back scheme. Both collections have been awarded BES 6001 for responsible sourcing and given BRE Global A+ ratings in educational settings.
The specification has contributed to the amount of BREEAM credits earned by Llwyncrwn Primary School throughout the development, resulting in an overall ‘Excellent’ rating for the refurbishment project.
