Piatto modular paving specified for town centre revitalisation

Brett Landscaping’s Piatto modular paving has been specified for the rejuvenation of Kirkby-in-Ashfield town centre.

Over time, frequent deliveries to retail units based on Kirkby-in-Ashfield’s high street caused damage to the town centre’s original paving, leaving it in need of replacement.

As part of a wider regeneration scheme, issued by Ashfield District Council, 500 square metres of Piatto was specified to transform the pedestrianised town centre.

The modular paving replaced the existing flagging, which was originally laid in the 1990s. The entire length of the high street has been resurfaced; a disused street market area has been transformed into an appealing space, suitable for public events.

Different aggregate materials were required to distinguish between pedestrianised zones and shared spaces.

Following a web-based product search, the council deemed Piatto appropriate for commercial installation: the paving has been designed to allow for visual creativity, whilst offering durability.

The stain-resistant paving has been laid to create different designs in each area of the town. Produced with natural aggregates, Piatto boasts a colourfast surface and clean lines, which contribute to the rejuvenated centre’s contemporary visual.

Since the Piatto installation, a number of commissioned sculptures and artwork pieces have been designed for the revived town centre, enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
