Accessible toileting at Ysgol Bro Dinfewr

Accessible toileting installed at Welsh ‘super school’

  • 18 Aug 2016

A new flagship ‘super school’ is being built to include accessible toileting facilities for students with special needs.

As part of the Welsh Government’s Schools Challenge, Ysgol Bro Dinfewr is being built to replace two former secondary schools in Carmarthenshire.

As well as providing bi-lingual education, the new institution will feature a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) resource for students with disabilities and learning difficulties.

Accessible toileting

The SEN unit accommodates two hygiene suites, complete with height-adjustable washbasins and changing benches, which are mounted to the wall. These fixtures were supplied by Clos-o-Mat, along with privacy screens and appropriate WCs.

A similar hygiene suite has been installed in the main campus building to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their requirements, are able to access suitable toilet facilities whilst at school.

The suites have been designed in compliance with current accessibility regulations to address each pupil’s pastoral needs, enabling the school to provide adequate support and care.
