Aggregate Industries has invested almost half a million pounds in a company-wide weighbridge training programme for its employees.
With its weighbridge employees seeing more customers than its sales team on a daily basis, Aggregate designed a training programme to equip its site staff with the skills to deliver high levels of customer service and health and safety support.
A handful of its site colleagues were invited to join a steering group, which helped to shape the programme. It was launched this month, in partnership with Growth Engineering, an ISM-accredited training provider.
Over a six month period, 360 Aggregate employees will receive intensive training in Weighbridge Operations.
Comprising a mixture of classroom-based activities, site inductions, group tasks and practical exercises, the programme will cover a range of topics including haulier management, customer service, communication skills and health and safety.
Delegates will also learn how to assess and control risks and deal with difficult enquiries. Training will take place in small groups at different Aggregate sites across the UK.
The course itself will take two days to complete; workplace assessments will follow. Successful participants will then be awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Weighbridge Operations by the Mineral Products Qualification Council.
So far, feedback has been wholly positive: 95% of participants have scored the training highly, between 8/10 and 10/10.
