The GAI Education Awards 2015

Ironmongery professionals receive GAI industry qualifications

  • 7 Sep 2016

The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) has awarded industry qualifications to its architectural ironmongery, door hardware and builders’ merchants students.

The GAI’s education, qualification and CPD programme has been developed for professionals within and around the architectural ironmongery industry.

This year, 87 learners obtained the GAI Certificate in Architectural Hardware: consisting of two stages, with a total of 25 education modules, this qualification provides a comprehensive overview of all an architectural ironmonger is required to know.

A further 40 students completed the GAI Diploma, which precedes the Certificate in Architectural Hardware. The Diploma focuses on teaching the skills required for scheduling, making it particularly suitable for those who are working on international projects, which are being built to UK and European standards.

Students on the GAI’s 2015/16 education programme are based all around the world, with 47% residing outside the UK. High numbers of qualifications have been recorded from learners in Dubai, South Africa and Hong Kong.

All students will be invited to attend an education awards event later this year.

The GAI’s online Education Hub ensures that its modules are available to international students. Information is presented in manageable portions, via a series of learning blocks with explanations, animations and video clips.

The new prospectus for the GAI Diploma is also available to download from the Hub; online enrolments for the 2016/17 programme start this month.
