MCOH Architects has created a nature themed interior design scheme for the Temple Carrig School in County Wicklow using a collection of vibrant shades from the Marmoleum flooring range by Forbo Flooring Systems.
Architect Jackie Carrol distinguished each level of the school with different feature colours from the Marmoleum range to reflect the variety of nature.
Forbo’s red Fresco shade was used on the lower ground floor to represent the earth’s crust; whilst the upper ground floor used the oceanic blue Laguna colourway; and the top floor used the purple Thistle colour to emulate the thick heather found on mountainous peaks.
The Marmoleum Striato Colour Stream – a combination of all three of the feature colours – was additionally used on all three floors to separate the social areas of the school from the general circulation areas.
Manufactured from 97% natural raw materials, Marmoleum flooring features a double-layer water-based finish called Topshield2, which provides protection against scuffing and dirt, and is both stain and chemical resistant.
MCOH Architects also specified Forbo’s Surestep slip-resistant safety flooring for areas where students and staff would be prone to falls, whilst the company’s Nuway Turtiguard entrance flooring system was installed to ensure that dirt and moisture brought in from footwear is not trampled further into the building.
