Saint-Gobain publishes Corporate Social Responsibility Review for 2014/15

  • 22 Sep 2016

Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland has published its 2014/15 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Review in a new customisable format online.

The CSR Review, composed with assistance from its advisory panel of customers, NGOs and sustainability experts, highlights the challenges facing the industry and is centred on Saint-Gobain’s four key pillars: building for the future, caring for the environment, supporting and developing staff and connecting with communities.

Highlights from the 2014/15 review, which also coincided with Saint-Goblin’s 350th year, include:

  • Completing the UK’s first MULTICOMFORT reference building – using a holistic approach to building that offers sustainability credentials beyond the Passivhaus standard.
  • Obtaining verified Environmental Product Declarations on 71% of products manufactured and sold by its construction businesses.
  • Switching to 100% FSC pallets for all of its pallets purchased (3 million).
  • Rolling out eco-innovation training to over 150 key managers.
  • Launching the Entrepreneurship Foundation with the CITB (a free 12-month training programme for construction SMEs).
  • Helping to renovate the Prince’s Trust Wolfs Centre in Glasgow, that trains young people into employment.

Dr Alan Knight, Chairman of Saint-Gobain’s external advisory panel commented: “We are pleased to see the progress being made by Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland in its 2014/15 CSR Review. The openness and transparency of its reporting is a very positive signal of Saint-Gobain’s culture – to highlight the challenges in terms of CSR, not just the areas of success.

We continue to recognise the positive approach and commitment Saint-Gobain shows to its CSR strategy and believe it is in a strong position to show leadership in its sector.”
