Porofoam, modular scaffolding and virtual reality: the latest innovations at Civils Expo 2016

As UK Construction Week draws closer and closer, Buildingtalk previews the biggest and most innovative new products and services set to launch at Civils Expo this October at the Birmingham NEC. 

Porofoam low-density foam concrete

CEMEX has revealed that it will be launching a new concrete product at the engineering show: Porofoam. Porofoam is a range of low-density foam concretes that can float on water. The range has been designed specifically for void-fill, stabilisation and other lightweight applications.

The cement, concrete and aggregate manufacturer will also be exhibiting its Ready Aqualwall product, a rapid assembly flood defence and retaining wall solution, as well as its permeable concrete Permaflow product. 

High Max

Ideal for water companies, local authorities and highway contractors, the D400 High Max series, developed by drainage specialists Clark Drain Ltd, will also be launching at the event. clark-drain

The D400 High Max range of manhole covers have been designed specifically for the heavily trafficked needs of the UK’s road networks. 

Instant HD Modular Scaffolding System

Instant UpRight will launch its Instant HD Modular Scaffolding System (pictured top of page) in the UK at the event. The systems boasts a stronger and lighter (50 percent reduction) frame, and is safer to use and easier to assemble.

The scaffolding manufacturer will also showcase its mobile aluminium scaffolding towers and Spandeck walkway systems.

Groundforce VR 

Designed to assist site staff and engineers in conceptualising the excavation and the related safety and technical challenges that accompany any excavation, Groundforce’s innovative virtual reality software will also debut at Civils Expo.

The company will also be debuting two new products at the event and will run a yet to be revealed competition from its stand.

Civils Expo will take place at the Birmingham NEC from 18th – 20th October as part of UK Construction Week. In addition to the products and services we’ve highlighted above, other highlights include Irish whisky tasting on the Fast Engineering stand on 19th October, and a 3D augmented reality model and interactive tablets on display from HS2 and Tideway Tunnel.
