According to Clos-o-Mat, the UK’s leading supplier of Changing Places and Space To Change toilets, 20 percent of the average business’ customers suffer from a disability.
For many of the 5 million consumers with special needs, who spend approximately £80 billion per year according to the latest research, many businesses lack the appropriate wheelchair-accessible hygiene facilities.
Clos-o-Mat’s findings suggest that many wheelchair-accessible toilets in those locations, such as restaurants, cinemas and shopping centres, already have the required space needed (7.5m2), and only need the addition of a two key fixtures: a hoist and a changing bench.
In locations where a full assisted accessible Changing Places toilet is not possible (this takes up an extra 12m2 under British Standards), Clos-o-Mat has developed the smaller Space to change concept to bridge the gap between conventional Document M type toilets and full specification Changing Places.
The full details of the Space to Change and Changing Places toilets can be found on the Clos-o-Mat website and Firefly community page.
