Encasement has supplied a range of powder coated ‘Forma’ aluminium column casings to improve the external appearance of Biggleswade’s recently opened A1 Shopping Park.
The multi-million pound transformation of the London Road Retail park site began in 2013. Since then, a 300,000 square foot shopping complex – which accommodates brands such as M&S, Boots and TK Maxx – has been created.
Within the White Way Retail Centre, a separate self-contained structure has been built. Home to Halfords, Benson Beds and Pets and Home, the building incorporates a gradually sloping canopy roof, which is supported by a number of structural columns.
Encasement was contracted to provide column casings to improve the external appearance of the shop front area. Using 3mm thick aluminium, the company manufactured a range of ‘Forma’ column casings, which could be stacked and joined with discreet infill strips.
To meet the project’s specification, Encasement employed a wood-grain powder coated finish from Powdertech Group. Designed to replicate a grained wood finish, the coating enabled Encasement to deliver a set of aesthetically-pleasing column casings, avoiding standard plain metal or painted finish solutions.
The powder coated ‘Forma’ casings provided a cost-effective solution compared to wooden alternatives. They were delivered in a range of sizes to accommodate the columns, which range in height from 8 to 12.8 metres.
