This year, UK Construction Week will feature a free Business Advice Centre and Skills Analysis Gamification Zone, designed to help construction SMEs to develop their businesses.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are essential to the UK construction industry. To support these business owners, UK Construction Week has developed the Business Advice Centre: it aims to provide free professional advice on a range of operational and administrative topics.
The centre will also offer practical advice on setting up and maintaining apprenticeships, improving customer satisfaction and complying with relevant construction and tax laws. Discussions can cover a range of topics, from managing efficient payroll systems to achieving BREEAM certification.
Experts at the Business Advice Centre – which can be found at stand B4/2203 at the show – will be available for free 20-minute appointments with business owners. Places can be booked online
A number of companies will offer their services at the centre: Altion Law, TLF Research, Parkwood, EEBS and Geason Training are among these names.
The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM), the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Insititute of Enviornment Management and Assessment (IEMA) and the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) will also be on hand to provide advice and business services.
In partnership with Skills4Stem, UK Construction Week has developed the Gamification Zone to help visitors to gain a greater understanding of their leadership skills.
At stand B4/270, the zone will host the interactive Skills4Leadership game: designed to give employers and employees an insight into each team member’s behaviours, competencies and leadership skills, the game will take around 45 minutes to complete.
Whilst the game usually incurs a cost, it will be free to play for UK Construction Week’s visitors. However, as spaces will be allocated on a fist come first served basis, it is advisable to book a timeslot in advance
