Victorian Orangery a Mansion House, St Helens

Pilkington glazing brings traditional aesthetics and modern performance to Victorian orangery

  • 10 Oct 2016

Buildingtalk’s Video of the Week looks at a restoration project in St Helens, where a Pilkington glazing system has been used to recreate the look of a traditional Victorian orangery whilst also delivering 21st century benefits in terms of energy performance, climate control and self-cleaning properties.

In the video, Phil Savage, commercial contracts sales manager at Pilkington, talks through the glass and glazing system used in the project, and how it has been used to transform the once run-down structure into a lucrative asset for Age UK Mid-Mersey, which the charity hires out as a wedding and conference venue.

Specified for its solar control and self-cleaning properties, Pilkington Activ Sunshade was used for the building’s roof, whilst Pilkington Suncool coated glass chosen for the walls.
