Knauf Insulation Sustainability Report, 2016: Insulation Matters

Knauf celebrates sustainability successes with new report

  • 24 Oct 2016

In light of its latest achievements, Knauf Insulation has published its latest Sustainability Report, ‘Insulation Matters’.

In terms of sustainability, 2016 marked a significant breakthrough for Knauf Insulation. The company succeeded in reducing its CO2 emissions by 16.4%, and cutting its energy usage by 17.5%. Incredibly, it also managed to achieve its target of cutting water discharge by 50% – five years ahead of its deadline.

Throughout the year, Environmental Product Declarations were released for a variety of Knauf Insulation products; the company also worked to highlight the importance of warmer homes to make it a Government Infrastructure priority. This ambition was achieved, in part, when the UK’s National Infrastructure Plan recognised home energy efficiency as infrastructure for the first time.

The company’s UK division invested millions into its Queensferry rock mineral wool manufacturing plant to increase its capacity and capabilities. A number of upgrades, such as thermal and mechanical improvements, are due to be carried out; these will enable the company to introduce new insulation solutions.

Sustainability at Knauf Insulation

Knauf Insulation’s latest report, ‘Insulation Matters’, highlights its halfway point achievements. It makes a feature of the plants that have advanced in areas such as energy management, water discharge or waste reduction.

Providing details on the initiatives that have been introduced throughout the business, the report speaks with policy makers, specifiers, installers and construction companies to demonstrate Knauf Insulation’s sustainable ethos.

It shows how the company is incessantly campaigning to keep sustainability, energy efficiency and building safety at the centre of global political debate.
