Day two of UK Construction Week at the NEC in Birmingham featured a host of discussions covering recruitment, 3D printing and the northern powerhouse, as well as more of the latest innovations and products making their debut at the show.
Kicked off by business journalist Steph McGovern, the first debate of the day discussed how the northern powerhouse will become more important in post-referendum Britain. Panelists included speakers from BAM Nuttal, Muse Developments, Aecom and ICE Northern Powerhouse Steering Group.
Further discussions looked at how each sector within the construction industry was reacting in the aftermath of Brexit and the depreciation of sterling.
The second day of UK Construction Week also hosted a number of industry firsts and product launches, including the European launch of Bio-Oxygen. The Australian company is now entering the European market following the success of its air sterilisation system, which guarantees odour free results along with 99% elimination of viruses and bacteria.
The Innovation Trail – which highlights some of the most innovative products, services and companies debuting at this year’s show – included WikiHouse, Pavegen, EcoVolt, RA Tech, Jigtech and g2 energy.
Another product launch came from Easy-Trim Roofing and Construction Products. Rachael Gibson, Marketing Manager at Easy-Trim, commented: “We’ve had a fantastic day at our stand and garnered a lot of high-quality leads. This afternoon we ran a ‘happy hour’ which attracted an amazing amount of footfall and have launched a brilliant new product, Polyurecoat a liquid polyurethane membrane.”
UK Construction Week also hosted the Structural Timber Awards on day two of the event. Read more about the show in Buildingtalk’s exclusive report.
