BCP pitched roofing training

Redland announces BCP pitched roofing training

  • 26 Oct 2016

Redland has been approved as a provider of the Basic Competency Programme (BCP) for pitched roofing; it is now able to offer CITB-funded training to roofers lacking formal qualifications.

The BCP aims to help roofers without full competency or official roofing qualifications to obtain them. When combined with a Working at Heights CSCS Health and Safety Test pass, the certificate also enables roofers to convert their green CSCS cards to the Blue Skilled Worker CSCS version.

This allows them to work towards their next level of qualification, whilst labouring on site. It will also help those in other trades to change sector or add to their developing skills sets.

Validated by the CITB, CSCS and the NFRC CompetentRoofer scheme, the BCP covers a variety of areas, including scale, orientation and pitch. Delegates will also be educated on estimating, constants and the standard BS 5534.

The two-day course, which has been subsidised by the CITB and Redland, includes practical sessions on the installation of roofing systems: both single lap interlocking and double lap plain tile and slate.

The course will be delivered from Redland’s Gloucestershire-based National Training Centre.
