Aggregate Industries donated over 100 cubic metres of silica sand to the Bear Grylls Survival Race series, which took place over the summer.

With events taking place in Cambridge, Edinburgh, Manchester and London, the Bear Grylls Survival Race featured multi-distance obstacle courses, combined with survival challenges set across different zones: these were inspired by Arctic, Mountain, Jungle and Desert environments.

Aggregate Industries supplied more than 25 cubic metres of sand to the desert obstacles in each of the four events, which took place across the country.

Its Garside Sands range, which is exported for applications all over the world, features over 90% silica content; it is often praised for its naturally-occurring colour and grain shape.

The sand is often used in water filtration, energy processing and brick manufacture projects, as well as on sports pitches. In this instance, it was packed into a skip for the racers to negotiate their way through. The desert obstacle also featured a sandbox crawl.

Several members of Aggregate Industries’ team signed up to take part in the Bear Grylls Survival Race.
