Kingspan Insulation has provided an assortment of insulation products for use on a new beachfront home on the Isle of Wight.
Working in conjunction with local architect, Lincoln Miles, Bram and Lisa Vis employed a range of cladding materials to design their family home. The seven-bedroom property, which includes a swimming pool and gym facilities, blends in seamlessly with the neighbouring countryside.
The seafront building offers views across the Solent to Portsmouth and Southampton; the Vis family enjoy a private beach. It was recently featured on Grand Designs, a popular FremantleMedia production which is currently in its 15th series.
Throughout the V-shaped property, Kingspan Kooltherm K8 Cavity Board was specified to provide insulation. An additional two layers of Kooltherm K7 Pitched Roof Board were fitted to the ground floor overhang, to ensure the desired thermal performance was achieved.
With thermal conductivities of 0.020 W/m.K, the products were able to deliver on the project’s requirements; their slim profiles ensured that space within the rooms was not compromised.
Kingspan Thermaroof TR26 LPC/FM and TR27 LPC/FM were chosen to insulate the property’s flat roofs. The building envelope was completed with Kingspan Thermafloor TF70, which was used to insulate the ground, basement and terrace floors.
Meanwhile, Kingspan Thermawell TW50 was fitted to a curved wall within the basement, which accommodates the Vis family’s new gym.
All products used to insulate the property feature a fibre-free insulation core; they have been awarded a BRE 2008 Green Guide Summary Rating of either an A or A+. In addition, they are certified ‘Excellent’ under BES 6001: Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products.
