Exova BM Trada announces final VSG Hardwood and Timber Frame courses of 2016

  • 31 Oct 2016

Training provider Exova BM TRADA is holding its final Visual Strength Grading Hardwood and Timber Frame Construction training courses for 2016, taking place between the 9th – 11th November and on the 29th November respectively.

Designed for those involved in the selection and supply of hardwood for structural use, the practical three-day VSG Hardwood course will be delivered by Phil O’Leary, Exova BM TRADA’s timber technology investigations team lead.

The course combines practical days spent in a yard with interactive learning in a classroom to provide participants with a knowledge of strength graded timber and the meaning of strength classes and an understanding of the responsibilities of the grader and the grading company.

Delegates will learn the natural growth characteristics of wood using handheld samples and will undertake practical exercises for grading hardwood.

Timber Frame Construction

Provided by the co-authors of TRADA’s Timber Frame Construction 5th edition, Lewis Taylor and Robin Lancashire, the Timber Frame Construction course is aimed at architects, contractors, developers, building inspectors, timber frame manufacturers, quantity surveyors and clerks of works.

The one-day course will educate attendees on timber frame design, construction and use, and introduce delegates to relevant design standards and building regulations.

Both courses will be held at Exova BM TRADA’s High Wycombe site. View the full timber training course brochure and timber strength grading brochure

Courses run throughout the year and can also be offered within a client’s premises.
