New white paper for design of accessible toilets in transport hubs

  • 7 Nov 2016

Clos-o-Mat has published a white paper for the designers of transport hubs to ensure that due consideration is given to everyone’s needs when it comes to the specification and design of accessible toilets.

“Provision of Accessible Toilets in Public Transport Sites” highlights regulatory and best practice guidelines, including those set out in Building Regulations Approved Document M 2013, to create Changing Places toilets in transport hubs.

According to Clos-o-Mat, a significant proportion of the 1 in 6 people in the UK who are registered disabled cannot use conventional wheelchair accessible toilets because they require help from a carer or specialist equipment.

The white paper, which is available to download for free via the Clos-o-Mat website, has been published to provide a simple reference point for providers with regard to the Changing Places facilities.

The company’s disabled toileting facilities have already been specified for transport hubs across the UK, including Paddington Station, Gatwick Airport and Stoke Bus Station.
